Path Auction
Four route lots. One budget. Buy evidence before you bid.
How to play
This is a solo sealed-reserve auction with imaginary chips, not a market against other people. Allocate 100 chips among four lots. Each lot shows a delivery payment and a published interval containing its minimum accepted bid. Audit costs 3 chips and reveals its exact reserve plus the route-catalog certificate.
One bid or pass settles a lot. A bid below reserve is declined and costs no chips, but that opportunity is closed. An accepted bid spends the amount you offered. A certified route earns its delivery payment; an uncertified route earns 0. Certification means every link is listed in this authored catalog, not that a real-world connection is impossible.
Payments arrive only when you close the auction: you cannot reinvest them during bidding. You can finish with open lots, which are then skipped. Final bank = unspent chips + certified delivery payments. More than 100 is a profit; 100 breaks even. Reveal closes an unfinished auction as an unscored learning round.
Worked example: audit for 3, then buy a certified lot at its reserve of 40 with a delivery payment of 60. You keep 57 unspent chips and receive 60 at closing: final bank 117, a profit of 17. Bidding 50 instead would reduce that profit to 7. A certified route paying less than its reserve still loses chips; passing it can be the better plan.
